Zentangles are a fantastic way to develop drawing confidence - absolutely anyone can create a Zentangle, even those who say “but I can’t draw”. Everyone can create Zentangles.
Zentangles are the brainchild of Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas - they’ve brought together an solidified ideas that have been floating around the art world for centuries and made it into something meaningful and legitimate.
I recently taught my Year 7 Art class how to Zentangle and the results blew me away - even the kids who were otherwise not interested in art were engaged and creating some incredible work. You can too!
I find drawing a great stress relief - I can absorb myself in the page and spend hours focussed on things outside the day-to-day stresses of life.
I am hoping to become a Certified Zentangle Trainer before the end of the year and I can then teach “officially” - but I encourage you to look into this phenomenon now and have a try - there are no mistakes, no rules and no pressure! That’s what I love most about art - it is so accessible and so not exclusive these days - everyone has an outlet and a way to show their work. Art is no longer the elitist bastion it once was!
